Devoted.  Selfless.  Altruistic.  Compassionate.  Gracious.  These are just some of the words that come to mind when we think of Karen Pelle, our Guardian Angel and an integral part of our organization for almost a decade. Karen is also currently serving as President of the Board of Directors of Kids Wish Network.

Hundreds of thousands of children nationwide have received new toys during trying times thanks to Karen and the entire Megatrux team.  Since 2002, Kids Wish Network has relied on Megatrux for our shipping needs and Karen has seamlessly delivered every single time, on her own dime!

Through rain, sleet, snow and shine, Karen and her staff help us amass countless donated toys, clothes, books, games, and art supplies from sponsors and donors around the country.  Once delivered to our facility in Holiday, Florida our Distribution team swiftly inventories, divides, and re-packs the donations into gift bags tailored to meet the needs of deserving kids nationwide.

Megatrux then delivers our pre-packed pallets of toys to thousands of anxious children in hospitals, abuse shelters, domestic violence shelters, homeless coalitions, rehabilitation centers, and advocacy centers resulting in “miles of smiles.”

In addition, Karen frequently travels throughout the country to volunteer and personally assist Kids Wish Network with many of our programs. Standing side by side with Mayors, police officers, firefighters and  public officials, Karen will do whatever it takes to ensure the  children served by Kids Wish Network are showered with gifts, clothes, toys and games; we’re not sure who derives more joy from this – Karen or the children!

Our efforts could – and would – not be possible without this amazing woman.  Because of her big heart and philanthropic ways, Kids Wish Network has been able to help children in crisis who would have typically “slipped through the cracks.”

At Kids Wish Network, we often use the terms “hero” and “angel” when referring to the children we work with, our generous partners, or charitable donors.  It goes without saying that Karen is both.  She is a rare individual who not only aspires to better the world we live in, she actually does.  It is with great pleasure that Kids Wish Network nominates Karen Pelle for the much-deserved 2011 TIA 3PL Samaritan Award.
